WHEATON FRANCISCAN HEALTHCARE – ELMBROOK MEMORIAL WILL SPONSOR FIRST ANNUAL GUS

BROOKFIELD, WI, March 31, 2010 – The Brookfield Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is excited to

announce that Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Elmbrook Memorial will sponsor the first annual Gus

Macker 3on3 Basketball Tournament on July 24th and July 25th 2010 at the site of the former Menard’s

store on Bluemound Road. Gus Macker is a popular touring basketball tournament open to all ages.

Participants must sign up in teams of four, in categories based on age, size and talent levels.

Gus Macker began in 1974 in Lowell Michigan with 18 friends playing a competitive driveway basketball

game. Since 1987, the Macker tour has expanded, holding a total of 972 tournaments with over 2.2

million players – male and female from 7 years old to 50+ and more than 23 million spectators.

The Gus Macker Tournament is no stranger to Wisconsin, but this will be the first time Brookfield has

had the opportunity to host. The former Menards site on Bluemound Road will be transformed into

Mackerville this summer with countless basketball courts, delicious food, and unlimited family fun. Over

300 teams and thousands of spectators are expected to be in attendance. The Brookfield Convention

and Visitor’s Bureau is pleased to have Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Elmbrook Memorial

sponsoring the Gus Macker Tournament this year. To register for the tournament, simply log on to

www.brookfieldcvb.com and click on the Gus Macker link.

The mission of the Brookfield Convention and Visitors Bureau is to stimulate economic growth in the

community by increasing awareness along with visitor volume and expenditures to its hotels,

restaurants, retail and attractions through marketing, promotion and sales efforts.
