Situated in a beautiful 400-acre park in Brookfield, Wisconsin, the Wilson Center’s vibrant outdoor artistic landscape—the Lynn Chappy ArtsPark—joins nature and art in ways that are designed to educate and inspire. Recognized as a cultural anchor in the greater Milwaukee community, the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts serves as a catalyst for lifelong discovery and exploration of the arts. This non-profit arts center serves more than 55,000 people annually, including 10,000 students. The Wilson Center focuses on three main disciplines: performing arts, arts education and visual arts. In addition to year-round performances, the organization promotes lifelong learning through arts education programs, art classes and art exhibitions.
What to Do When You’re There
The Center is home to a wide range of incredible and engaging events, including:
- Performing Arts Series – The Mainstage Series brings marquee performances, world-premieres and acclaimed artists of various genres to the 600 seat Harris Theater.
- Matinee Series – The beloved Matinee Series brings daytime audiences a rich variety of classical and Broadway-infused performances.
- Studio Series – Intimate and cutting-edge, the Studio Series spotlights up-and-coming artists in the cozy setting of the Dawes Studio Theater.
- Starry Nights – Free Summer Concert Series. Gather your family and friends, pack your lawn chairs and picnic blankets, and find your perfect spot on the Wilson Center’s beautiful Gerlach/Haack outdoor theater! The second Friday of July always includes the Classic Car Show. See hundreds of vintage, classic and custom cars on the Wilson Center lawn. The car show is free for participants. Children are encouraged to vote for their favorite cars!
- Visual Art Classes – Painting, drawing, ceramics, interior design, dance, movement, creative writing and more—the Wilson Center offers year-round classes and workshops for kids, families, teens, and adults. Connect with other artists and cultures, expand your perspective, and tap into your creative side! Classes are offered year-round by Wilson Center instructors.
- Ploch Art Gallery – Ploch Art Gallery displays the work of regional professional artists each season. Exhibitions include free Artist Dialogue and reception.
- Lynn Chappy ArtsPark – Uniting nature and art in inspiring ways, Lynn Chappy ArtsPark is a vibrant, outdoor artistic landscape designed to engage and inspire our community.
- Community Performances and Events – The Wilson Center also hosts performances for local musicians, dancers and other ticketed performances year-round.
