Beyond the Insider’s Guide: Dive Deeper into Brookfield

A New Chapter for Brookfield: Visit Brookfield Partners on Exciting Public Market Project

We are excited to announce a new development that will change the way we gather, shop, and connect in Brookfield. Visit Brookfield is proud to announce our partnership with the City of Brookfield and Irgens Development on the Brookfield Public Market, a transformative initiative that will bring renewed vibrant energy to the north end of Brookfield Square Mall.

At Visit Brookfield, our mission is simple: to enhance the experience of residents and visitors while supporting tourism, hospitality, and economic development. This project not only aligns with that mission; it elevates it. We are thrilled to take a leading role in bringing this new space for the community to life.

“For the past nine years, I’ve been proudly selling Brookfield—and for good reason,” said Ann Marie Hess, Director of Sales at Visit Brookfield. “We have a magnificent conference center, 11 beautiful hotels, and exceptional hospitality at every turn. But let’s be honest, at tradeshows, I often hear the same question: ‘If I’m staying two or three nights, what is there to do?’ Until recently, my answer focused on our incredible lineup of restaurants, retail, WhirlyBall, and the Marcus Movie Tavern. But now, I have an exciting new addition to my toolbox: The Brookfield Public Market.”

What is the Brookfield Public Market?

The Brookfield Public Market will be a two-story, year-round public venue featuring:

  • A retractable roof and stunning glass-peaked design
  • Approximately 12 vendor stalls for local retailers and food providers
  • A large bar and event space perfect for gatherings
  • Outdoor seating and an adjacent plaza for community events
  • Curated experiences highlighting culture, shopping, and local flavor

We envision a space where local businesses thrive, families gather, and the community comes together. Think lively weekend markets, seasonal festivals, pop-up experiences and so much more.

“I’m so excited that Visit Brookfield is helping bring this vibrant space to life,” said Jocelyn Nunez, Social Media & Digital Marketing Specialist. “From lively markets to pop-up events, I can’t wait to capture all the energy and community moments for our social media and reignite excitement around the north end of the mall.”

How is Visit Brookfield involved?

In this joint public-private partnership, Visit Brookfield will own and operate the public market.  This project will be made possible by a three-way partnership with The City of Brookfield, Irgens Development and Visit Brookfield. Visit Brookfield is seeking tax incremental financing to support the land purchase and construction costs. The Public Market will be a multi-generational development that will spur additional economic opportunities throughout the community.  The dedicated Visit Brookfield Board of Directors and staff team will take on operational leadership in the Brookfield Public Market, curating vendors, planning events, and creating dynamic experiences that bring value to residents and attract visitors to the area.

Collecting and reviewing data was extremely important” said Dustin Hicks, Sales Manager at Visit Brookfield. “Through conducting focus groups with community members, we’ve gathered meaningful insights and heard directly from residents about what they want to see in this space. The feedback reinforced what the data was telling us and really energized our pursuit of this project.”

We believe this space will become a new heartbeat for Brookfield, just as the Brookfield Conference Center transformed the south end of the mall into a destination for business and leisure. This project will bring that same vibrancy to the north end.

A Vision with the Future in Mind:

Our commitment to community-centered development is stronger than ever. The Brookfield Public Market will:

  • Spur new economic activity and tourism
  • Support small businesses and local entrepreneurs
  • Provide a flexible event space for the public
  • Increase Brookfield’s visibility as a regional destination
  • Complement our city’s other offerings in shopping, hospitality, and entertainment

“As we move forward, we look forward to sharing updates, vendor opportunities, and opening timelines with you,” said Nancy Justman, CEO/President of Visit Brookfield. “This is more than just a development—it’s an invitation to experience Brookfield in new and exciting ways.”
